What Are Possessive Pronouns?

Possessive pronouns show that something belongs to  someone.They replace the noun + possessive form.




Subject Possessive Adjective Possessive Pronoun
I my mine
You your yours
He his his
She her hers
It its (its)
We our ours
They their theirs



💬 Examples:

  • This is my book. → This book is mine.

  • That is your hat. → That hat is yours.

  • These are our toys. → These toys are ours.

Important:
We don’t say "This is mine book."
Just say: "This is my book." ✔️ or "This book is mine." ✔️


🐾 A little tip to remember:

If the noun comes after, use:

  • my, your, his, her, our, their
    This is my dog.

If the noun is gone, use:

  • mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs
    This dog is mine.
