Simple Past – Negative Form

✨ We use the simple past to talk about things that happened yesterday, last week, or in the past.

💬 How to make a negative sentence?

👉 Formula:

Subject + did not (didn’t) + base verb

We don’t use the past tense of the verb — only the base form!

Sentence TypeExample
PositiveShe played soccer.
NegativeShe didn’t play soccer.
PositiveThey ate pizza.
NegativeThey didn’t eat pizza.

 ❗Remember:

  • Use didn’t for all subjects (I, you, he, she, it, we, they).

  • The main verb goes back to the base form (not past).
