Short Reading Text

Yesterday was quiet for Leo.

He did not wake up early.

He didn’t run to the bus stop like he usually does.

Leo did not forget his homework, but he didn’t bring his lunch.

Simple Past – Negative Form

✨ We use the simple past to talk about things that happened yesterday, last week, or in the past.

๐Ÿ’ฌ How to make a negative sentence?

๐Ÿ‘‰ Formula:

Subject + did not (didn’t) + base verb

✅ We don’t use the past tense of the verb — only the base form!

Sentence TypeExample
PositiveShe played soccer.
NegativeShe didn’t play soccer.
PositiveThey ate pizza.
NegativeThey didn’t eat pizza.

 ❗Remember:

  • Use didn’t for all subjects (I, you, he, she, it, we, they).

  • The main verb goes back to the base form (not past).
